while he was on a visit. Ferguson built a national name for himself in the summer of 2004 while playing with Team Breakdown. He also drew great reviews while playing with Oldsmar Christian High where he averaged 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists his last two years.
NOVEMBER 2005
The nation’s 8th ranked junior, ERIC GORDON committed to Illinois. Colleges from all around the country have watched Gordon light the nets on fire en route to a 26 point per game average last season and an excellent summer. So what was it about Illinois that made Gordon turned down schools like Duke, North Carolina, Arizona, Ohio State, and others. For Gordon it was the communication between the coaches, the close proximity from his home in Indianapolis to Illinois, and the fact that they play and develop future NBA guards.
Florida Prep’s CHRIS SINGLETARY committed to Missouri. Singletary has been one of the nation’s hottest guards after a standout performance at the National Elite Athletic Association in early November. He was also offered by Memphis and Iowa State.
2007 ALEX LEGION became the 5th top 20 junior to commit when he announced that he will be heading to the University of Michigan after high school. He took a visit to the school last month and he was sold. As a matter of fact, he had serious thoughts about committing while he was on his visit, but he decided to give it some more thought. It was during that time that he decided to turn down other top programs like Kansas, ULCA, Duke, Michigan State, and others.
It has been a rollercoaster for WILL HARRIS . First he signed with Nebraska, but than he decided that he would enroll at Brewster Prep. Next he committed to UConn at the ABCD Camp in July, but decommitted from UConn last month. Harris brought the ride to a stop when he recently signed with Virginia. He joins a talented class that includes Solomon Tat, Johnny Lett, and Jamil Tucker.
Worcester Academy’s seven foot center CHAS MCFARLAND committed to Wake Forest. McFarland was an all state player for Lovington High (IL) after averaging 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 blocks. He joins a class that includes LD Williams, Jamie Skeen, Ishmael Smith and Anthony Gurley. McFarland picked Wake Forest over Marquette and Boston College mainly because of the opportunity for immediate playing time in the ACC.
DONEAL MACK signed with the University of Florida. Mack is a 6’5 guard from Statesville Christian High School in North Carolina. University of Arizona got an early Christmas present when JERRYD BAYLESS committed to the school. Bayless is a high scoring point guard from St. Mary's High in Arizona. He is also the 7th ranked junior in the country and the top player in Arizona. As a matter of fact, he is the highest ranked guard to ever commit to the University of Arizona. You can tell just how good Bayless is when you consider the fact that Bayless was ranked higher than Arizona’s standout pro guards like Mike Bibby, Damon Stoudamire, Jason Terry, Salim Stoudamire, and Steve Kerry when they were in high school.
DeMatha’s standout 6’4 guard AUSTIN FREEMAN committed to Georgetown last week. Freeman was DeMatha’s leading scorer last year as a sophomore. He was named Washington Post All-Met and ALL WCAC. However Georgetown’s strong academics were the main reason Freeman picked the Hoyas.

The nation’s 4th ranked senior point guard, DJ AUGUSTIN, committed to Texas. He plays for Hightower High in Houston Texas, after transferring from Brothers Martin in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The commitment was somewhat of a surprise because many thought LSU was Augustin’s leader. Remember Augustin’s former New Orleans Jazz summer teammate Tasmin Mitchell plays for LSU and LSU is Augustin’s home school. However, when all was said and done Texas snag another top player from the back door. Augustine averaged 21 points and 7 assists while leading his team to a state championship last season. He joins a very good class that includes Kevin Durant, Matt Hill, Dexter Pittman, Justin Mason and Harrison Smith

He was a four year varsity starter for Rickards High in Tallahassee, FL. Bush averaged 23 points a game his senior year and help led his team to the state final four. Bush’s former high school coach Andy Colville was hired by New Orleans this summer. Coleville was instrumental in Bush’s recruitment. Coleville also coached New Orleans starting center Ben Elias.
Bush’s Genesis One teammate, GARY FLOWERS, signed with Oklahoma State. He decommitted from Texas A&M.
Dunwoody (GA)’s ANJUAN WILDERNESS signed with Charlotte

Harmony Prep’s standout point guard DEONTA VAUGHN decommitted from Indiana.
Virginia brought their 2005 recruitment to an end with the commitment of JOHNNIE LETT. He is a 6’8 forward from B.C. Rain High in Mobile, AL. Lett is a fierce rebounder that led the 2004 ABCD camp in rebounding. His 15 rebounds and 17 points a game allowed him to be a finalist for Alabama Mr. Basketball as a junior last season. He spent his summer showcasing his skills with the Atlanta Explosion and the Smyrna Stars. Lett picked Virginia over Alabama and Miami. The class includes Lett, Solomon Tat and Jamil Tucker.
*Doug Wiggins decommitted from St Johns. Wiggins is a 5’10 guard from East Hartford that averaged 27 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals. At this time, Wiggins is most interested in UConn.

OCTOBER 2005
DEVIN BRENNAN MCBRIDE had offers from Tulsa, Michigan, Xavier, and others. However there was only one school that he has been dreaming about since he watched them play as a sophomore. He is a sleeper in the states, but a standout in England as he was on England’s 18u national team. He fills the scholarship void that Will Harris left. Eaves picked UConn over Pittsburg, Providence, Utah, and Rhode Island. He joins a class that includes Stanley Robinson, Ramar Smith, Curtis Kelly, Jerome Dyson and Jon Mandeldove.
Texas got a commitment from Lincoln Southeast’s 6’11 center MATT HILL. He followed up a 19 point 11 rebound junior season average with a breakout summer. Hill joined Princeton Curry (South Florida), Trevor Booker (Clemson), Bradis Raley, and Jerome Randle on Breakdown’s All Underrated Summer Team in August. Hill is one of the nation’s most skilled post players.
Hill also took official visits to Nebraska, Utah, and Purdue. In addition, he also had offers from Gonzaga, Purdue, Creighton. He joins a Texas recruiting class that includes the nation’s 2nd ranked senior Kevin Durant, Houston’s 6’3 guard Harrison Smith., 6’10 315 pound Dexter Pittman, and Amarillo Palo Duro guard Justin Mason.

Pittsburg, Cincinnati, Xavier, and Seton Hall all put offers on the table for Hughes High (OH)'s ADRION GRAVES. In the end, Graves decided to stay with the school close to home.
